WWE Night of Champions 2012 Results: CM Punk Retains Title in a Draw Against John Cena

Once again the WWE?s annual event featuring all of the company?s champions on one stage arrived, though ultimately the main event between CM Punk and John Cena involved stakes bigger than a big shiny beltbuckle being on the line. The two had been jawing back and forth for weeks with talk of respect dominating the feud. In the end, neither man came out with his hand raised after a German Suplex from the Top Rope on the part of Cena resulted in both men having their shoulders on the canvas during the ensuing pin. Prior to the ending, however, it was an excellent back-and-forth affair with Punk attempting a Rock Bottom, a number of near-falls, and the Boston crowd going wild.

Other notable bouts included Sheamus putting his World Heavyweight Title on the line against Alberto Del Rio without use of his patented Brogue Kick finisher…that was, until Booker T came out and switched things up at the last minute, leaving the door open for the big Irishman to land the strike and retain his title.

Also on the menu tonight was more tag-team hilarity from Daniel Bryan-Kane with the strange bedfellows overcoming their issues to score the tag-team titles. The duo almost degenerated into chaos early on before hugging it out, ultimately assisting each other to bring home the belts.

Eve Torres also exited the event with a title in tow after replacing Kaitlyn and beating Divas Champion Layla with some improved aggression and a swinging neckbreaker finish. Kaitlyn was pulled from the match after suffering an attack backstage from a masked assailant.
