Georges St-Pierre motivated by ?new challenges? at welterweight

The last time UFC welterweight king Georges St-Pierre stepped inside the Octagon the division looked vastly different. The fighters at the front of the contendership line were opponents he?d already dismantled and for awhile it was looking like GSP was on the verge of cleaning out the division. However, a number of new names have emerged in the fourteen months since St-Pierre?s last fight including Johny Hendricks, Jake Ellenberger, Martin Kampmann, Nick Diaz, and of course the foe he?ll face in November at UFC 154 ? Carlos Condit.

The change in climate is one St-Pierre is enjoying, saying the welterweight landscape is far more appealing now than it was before he went down with a torn ACL.

?It’s like there’s a lot of new challenges and I’m very happy to be back. It’s like a new thing; it’s actually pretty cool. I feel a lot more motivation right now. It’s exciting,? acknowledged St-Pierre in an interview with MMAWeekly, expressing his drive to overcome ?bigger and better challenges? in life.

Regarding Condit specifically, St-Pierre explained part of what makes the interim title-holder dangerous is his ability to adjust as needed against adversaries rather than rely on a singular approach to competition.

?He can change, that?s why he?s so good. He can change the way he fights according to his opponent,? revealed GSP. ?That?s why he?s so good and I know that. I?m going to take that fight and fight the best I can, and give it all I can.?

St-Pierre has been out of action since April 2011 while recovering from a pair of knee injuries. His November 17 bout will mark the seventh straight time ?Rush? will enter the infamous eight-sided cage as champion.
