An incredulous White tweeted the highly unfortunate news late Tuesday afternoon.
"Now Aldo is out with foot injury," White wrote. "Main and co-main in the same day! Another amazing day at the UFC. We have some work to do."
Aldo was scheduled to face Frankie Edgar in a major super fight after his originally scheduled challenger, Erik Koch, was forced out due to a partially torn MCL. Now, UFC 153 has no main or co-main event, and the UFC is once again in scramble mode.
Penick's Analysis: This is just an unbelievable string of bad luck that the UFC has had with injuries in 2012. This could very likely be connected to Aldo's motorcycle accident, and if so, that's just an unacceptable incident on Aldo's part. Fighters at this level can't be taking unnecessary risks outside of fighting that could affect their ability to perform. It's why many other professional sport's owners and leagues have clauses against motorcycle riding by athletes. I don't know what the UFC does now, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Anderson Silva steps up for this card in Brazil. Not sure who he'd fight, but he could save the event.
UPDATE: White indicated in a response on Twitter that it was in regards to that motorcycle accident Aldo was in. Responding to a comment on Twitter about the UFC running too many shows leading to the injury epidemic, White wrote, "Aldo got hit by a f***ing car!!!! Too many shows..."
