Roy Nelson earned his fifth UFC win on Saturday night, and the fourth which he ended in the first round, as he stopped Matt Mitrione in under three minutes at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in Las Vegas.

The bout, which headlined the event on FX, was scheduled for five, five-minute rounds, but needed only 2:58 seconds to provide a decisive finish.

Mitrione equated himself well early, landing some strikes and holding off a takedown attempt from Nelson. However, Nelson caught him with a great uppercut with a left behind it that sent Mitrione to the ground.

Nelson followed him down to the ground, landed a few more strikes, and referee Herb Dean stopped the bout. The win was his second straight, and brought him to 3-3 over his last six. For Mitrione, it's his second straight loss inside the Octagon after a five fight winning streak kicked off his MMA career.
