Coach: Cain Velasquez does not have broken hand, Junior dos Santos rematch still targeted for UFC 152 in Toronto

It appears there is nothing to worry about afterall with Cain Velasquez's hand. After comments from Junior dos Santos' coach suggested their UFC Heavyweight Championship rematch would be pushed back further than September's UFC 152 event in Toronto, Velasquez's head coach has now chimed in.

"No truth," American Kickboxing Academy head Javier Mendez said of the broken hand talk in an interview with TheScore.com. "[Dos Santos' camp] are going by the Nevada Athletic Commission's follow up after fights. Cain told the doc after his fight that his front knuckle was bruised and all they did was give him a slip that he needed an X-ray before being cleared. Standard commission practice is all that happened and they gave him a six-month suspension until he has his X-ray to clear him."

"He has no injuries other than the bruise and even sparred on Monday... We are looking at Toronto as [Cain's] return and the sooner the better... You can count on the rematch being different."

Penick's Analysis: That's great news in counter to the earlier report. So many fights have been delayed by injuries that having this bout take place as soon as possible can only be a good thing. It's also a major headliner for the UFC's return to Toronto, and with B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald on the card as well that makes a very good top two fights for the card.
