Throw out anything Anderson Silva has said about waiting until late 2013 to fight. If Georges St-Pierre defeats Carlos Condit on Saturday night at UFC 154, the super fight between he and Silva will more than likely come to fruition.
UFC President Dana White has already thrown out a preliminary May date for the fight, and Silva's appearance on Friday's final episode of UFC Primetime for UFC 154 sold the idea that he's coming to Montreal on Saturday for a reason.
"Anderson and Georges St-Pierre, the superfight. I like the idea, I like it," Silva said during the final half-hour special episode. "For Georges St-Pierre, it's good. For me, it's good. For the UFC, it's the best."
"Me and Georges, it's the big show. Georges win, Georges say 'ok,' I'm here."
Penick's Analysis: It's fairly clear that there's just one hurdle left to having this fight come together, and it's a man who is more than willing to spoil the party in Carlos Condit. Of course, a St-Pierre win also means he has to accept the fight, and he hasn't seemed entirely thrilled about the prospect in the past; regardless, he has to get past Condit before that becomes part of the conversation. But we'll see Silva in the crowd in Montreal Saturday night, and his name will become a part of the broadcast tonight as well before, during, and then after the main event.
