Per the report, Pearson was pulled over on Sunday morning around 4AM when police noticed his car swerving on the road. He was then administered a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed "miserably," leading to his arrest.
He has since been released, but hasn't made any public comment on the situation. Pearson is scheduled to take on Cub Swanson on the UFC on FX card this June. If this arrest will affect that scheduled bout or not, it's not yet known at this time.
Penick's Analysis: That's definitely disappointing news, but not altogether surprising. Unfortunately driving under the influence is a far too prevalent issue, and Pearson's far from the first athlete to be arrested for this issue. I don't know that the UFC would hand out any punishment his way, as they don't often get into issues that fighters have outside of the cage unless it's something overtly severe or damaging PR-wise. This may not be that type of incident. Regardless, it's something Pearson will now have to deal with, and hopefully he'll learn from this mistake and avoid repeating it.
